Art supplies are a very important part of art making. If you don't have paint when it comes time to use it, you won't be able to participate in class, fully. The Visual Journal, or Art Journal is something that should be carried around in the student backpack. It can be pulled out and partially worked at any time. Students will usually be provided extra class time to work in this journal, but ideas can come at any time, so it needs to go where they go. Students will start using this journal the first week of school. I recommend buying them a skinny and a wide Sharpie to ink over their pencil lines. But they will also use collage material, paint, watercolor, and pastel. Check out the Wreck-Less Abandon Page of the top navigation bar. Your supply list will be on the right side of this page all year. Below are some photos I took at Hobby Lobby to help parents feel comfortable making supply selections. Note: acrylic paint can come in bottles from the craft area (cheaper, but more watery (no big deal). Or acrylic paint can come from the fine art and paint isle, in tubes. I have included pictures of both, below. Notice, I've included a price range, just for Hobby Lobby. Walmart is also a decent place to buy supplies. Their prices may be better. I just wanted to do a little foot work for you. |
